Sweet Fall is finally here and we couldn’t be more excited to bust out our favorite sweaters, grab a dairy-free pumpkin spice latte, and start planning for our New Year’s Eve. Ok, we might be getting a little ahead of ourselves on that one. I mean, it is still 75 degree in sunny San Diego.
Nevertheless, with the Autumn Equinox last week, we are all sorts of prepared for the lower temperatures and feasting that is to come over the next few months. At Spa Kingston, we take our nutrition very seriously. After all, in order to have glowing and radiant skin, it’s important to nourish yourself with only the best foods. If you’ve ever been through our acne clinic, you know we start from the inside – out and carefully eliminate any foods our body disagrees with!
That’s why we felt it was 100% necessary to put together a list of our favorite foods for glowing radiant skin this Fall. Check out our list below and head to your nearest farmers market, because all of these scrumptious treats are in season!

Sweet potatoes are one of our absolute faves. Packed with Vitamin A and C, there’s nothing quite like a sweet potato when the temperatures start to drop and you can turn on the oven again. Because sweet potatoes are a source of both Vitamin A and C, they are an excellent food for preventing acne and healing any breakouts when they strike.
Our favorite way to eat it: Sweet potato fries
Preheat oven to 400
Slice sweet potato vertically creating fry shaped chunks and toss with avocado oil
Sprinkle kosher sea salt and pepper to your liking
Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes
Let sit for 10 minutes then enjoy!

Hello, October! Wasn’t your favorite part of carving the pumpkin picking out the seeds and eating them as a snack later? We love pumpkin seeds because they are packed with zinc which is essential for skin regeneration and also aids in collagen formation.
Our favorite way to eat it: Roasted
Preheat oven to 300
Toss pumpkin seeds in a bowl with avocado oil
Sprinkle kosher salt and pepper to your liking
Before putting in the oven, top with fresh rosemary
Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown, stirring occasionally
Remove from oven to cool and enjoy this healthy snack!

Besides their gorgeous color, beets are a powerful antioxidant that reduces inflammation, slows the aging process, and helps prevent wrinkles. We like to think of them as the ultimate anti-aging root!
Our favorite way to eat it: Balsamic-glazed roasted beets
Directions for Beets:
Preheat the oven to 350°F.
Place the beets in a small casserole dish and pour water and olive oil over them
Cover tightly with a lid or aluminum foil and bake for 1 1/2 hours.
Remove the casserole from the oven and let beets cool
Directions for Balsamic Glaze:
Combine balsamic vinegar, 2 tablespoons of the olive oil, salt, and pepper in a bowl and whisk to blend
Add dressing in the bowl to beets and toss gently to coat
Serve immediately and enjoy!

Oh, pomegranate, how we love you so. However you consume pomegranate, whether that be in a drink or as a snack, it is a powerful antioxidant, photoprotective, anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. Its effects on the skin aid in the production of collagen and can fight off signs of aging. Thanks to its phenolic compounds, such as ellagic acid, pomegranate ALSO inhibits enzymes that break down collagen. Is this a superfood or what?
Our favorite way to eat drink it: Pomegranate juice
Take one cup of pomegranate seeds and combine with 1/2 cup of water in a blender
Blend slowly so seeds can break down and release all the juice
Pour and enjoy!

We know as kids brussel sprouts were pure evil, but they’ve made a huge comeback with the farm-to-table revolution and we couldn’t be more pleased. They are SO yummy and good for you! Packed with vitamin C, Brussels sprouts help skin look firmer and smoother while lessening the appearance of sun spots and dryness. This is excellent during fall as our skin tends to get dryer and looks for regeneration after being out in the sun all summer – although, we know you were wearing a hat!
Our favorite way to eat it: Roasted brussel sprouts with garlic
Preheat the oven to 400
Slice brussel sprouts in half and saute on the stove with olive oil until golden
Add in fresh garlic, salt, and pepper
Transfer to baking sheet in oven and roast for another 10 minutes until crispy
Remove from oven to cool and drizzle balsamic vinegar for a tarty taste and enjoy!
